I would like to throw out this:

1. if a config dialog opens, you have a OK button, apply changes button,
reset button, cancel button. On open the apply is grayed out and a dirty flag
is set = 0,
the variables that are to be viewed and readjusted are loaded in to a save
object. This can now be used to load values into dialog variables.

2. If a variable is changed, even if it is changed back by hand, the dirty
flag is set and the apply button is made useable. If the reset button is used
the dirty flag is turned off and the apply button is not selectable.

3. If a variable is changed, and reset is then selected, it automaticlly
savesthe original settings, grays the apply and reset flag. Dialog displays
original settings.

4 If a variable is changed, the user just selects apply and the changes are
set. Give the User confirmation of save, clear dirty flag. apply goes gray.

5. If a variable is changed, the user just selects OK, if dirty flag is = 1,
give user chance to save or throw away changes. if throw away changes save
original settings to make sure there were no changes made. IUf Save, apply
and return to system. if dirty flahg = 0, nothing to do return to system.

Well what do you think, I have done this many time in the past and it works
very well.
