the idea is that a web browser isn't an application seperate from what it is 
showing. it is only a viewer and the focus is the content, not the viewer. 
such was the concept when berners-lee started dreaming anyways =)

go to your ~/.kde/shared/config/konquerorrc file under the HTML Settings
section there is an item called EnableFavicon, make it false. you will need 
to restart Konqi (and possibly KDE to clear some icons in cache?) ... poof, 
no more favicon.

perhaps if enough people bitch about it, it will end up in the kcontrol. 
until then ..... *shrug*
