How about this: remove the menu item entirely, but make it an option in the 
File Manager section of Control Center titled "Save View Properties in 
Directories". It will be clear that it is a toggle there because it will be 
a check box. Then, rename the "Remove directory properties" to "Revert to 
default view properties" and move it to the View menu. This would be much 
clearer as to what the result of "removing directory properties" actually 
does.
