But the others still have the idea it is something math related, haven't
they?

I see.

The icon should symbolically show what kind of operations are able with
the program. So the spreadsheet shows a table on it, the calculator
shows that calculations can be done. The Euro symbol is that way
something additional that doesn't give any new information, might also
be understood as the app only handles currency values. I proposed the
sigma to keep the appearance.

But I like Seans idea with the abacus as it fits to kwords icon style
like he pointed out. Now the calculator and the Euro symbol could be
replaced by the abacus. As the icons of all koffice apps have at least
three elements in it there might still be the need of a third element
for KSpread's newly designed icon I think. This need could be covered by
having three spreadsheets fanned out like in KPresenter's icon.

Well, I like this idea. So here I will stop. Nothing more to say.

Hope this discussion is noticed by some who are on the active side and
who accept the argument against the use of the Euro's symbol ;)

Oh, one more thing: I would also like it if there are different symbols
for an app and the specific document. By KDE 2.0.0 KOffice it is the
same icon for both. And this way it also breaks the style of document
icons who are all based on an white paper with a dog's ear (in german
it's a monkey's ear :).
