In kde-i18n we agreed that the correct capitalization is "K"
The lowercase "k" is an SI standard for 1000.

And yes, we should standardise this kind of thing. Having worked as a KDE
translator, I can tell you that having to translate "Kb", "KB", "kB", "kb"
is a pain. Not to forget "OK", "Ok" and so on....
