And would these translators be commissioned by KDE? Otherwise, which
translator would be defining the standard for their locale? It'd be
unfortunate if different translators were using different keys for the same
commands in a given locale.

I mean so that they are the same for everyone.

And I'd hardly say that Control-Z for Undo, Control-X for Cut, Control-V for
Paste, F1 for help, F3 for FindNext, and Control-W for Close are sensible,
even to someone who speaks English. It just seems easy to us because we're
used to them.

Really? Then why were Alt-BkSpc, Shift-Delete, Control-Insert, and
Shift-Insert deprecated when Control-Z/X/C/V were introduced?

In any case, it doesn't really matter if the old shortcuts are documented or
not. The only place the user's going to see the shortcuts is next to the
menu text on the menus, and as long as they see the new shortcuts,
everything is fine.

If they see the new shortcuts on some menus and the old shortcuts on other
menus, then they'll get confused.

No, they're not stupid. They're just learning, that's all.

Ted.
