It seems the whole discussion starts again...
Please have look at the current KDE-applications and their file-menu.
There is allready no standard-behaviour, some us Quit, some Exit, some
Exit & Close... and even worse: a Close of one application doesn't
always the same as in another application.
You ask why? Because in the earlier standards there was said we need an
'Exit' and a 'Close', which doesn't work on a SDI. The best proof for
that are 90 % of the KDE-applications.
So we tried to rework this point and used a 'Quit', which is
defacto-standard on a SDI.
Now some people say, we need to have MDI or that we HAVE allready a MDI
(StarOffice, ...). It's not true that we have a MDI. There's no
discussion about that, because it's well defined what a MDI is and what
not. e. g. StarOffice, Gimp, ... have no MDI.
If we get a MDI in future: we'll have to put something into the
standards - yes. BUT WHY BUT SOMETHING INTO THE STANDARDS, WHICH CAN'T
IMPLEMENTED?

We want a constructive dialog, but it's not constructive talking about
MDI, if we don't have one.
About the standards and some developers on this list: I know
applications you made, which even don't respect the Exit/Close of the
earlier-standards. Nobody can't force you to respect the standards. But
please understand us: we can't put something into the standards which
isn't consistent.
=====================================================
I made this suggestion 1 week ago, but again: everybody who isn't happy
with the current Quit/Windows-page, should make a html-page and I'll add
a link into the standards-page. Then we can discuss which behaviour is
better.
=====================================================
It makes no sense if we write 50 mails to kde-look and nobody
reads/understands the arguments of the other. So please: make a
html-page and I'll add a link.
End, over and out :-)
Peter
