There are a number of examples where a Cancel/Close is the only button that
need to be present. An about dialog, some sort of an information dialog (a
read only log), a progress dialog (as mentioned by another poster).

The reason for demanding a Cancel/Close button to be present is that every dialog
should be a "abortable". The presence will enforce this.
