I dunno whether it's already fixed in KDE 1.0, but Beta 4 had the
restriction, that icons could only be chosen from a single path ... 

I personally run different WMs and store all the icons under
/usr/share/icons ... with lots of subfolders for the different icon themes
(as of AfterStep & Co) ...

I'd really love to have this feature!
