Right, but there is a huge amount of work done - what is missing is an
interface to this commandline programs. The problem with this programs
is not the lack of functionality, it is the ugly user interface.

With a (even very simple) cgi interface, there was an easy way to
implement many usefull programs as scripts, e.g print queue control or
even an e-mail program.
