to include set-theoretic classification notions should be required
reading.

Next, just incorporate the  coda/intermezzo-like disconnected operation/
network fs for this hypothetical next -gen reiserfs,  and
lo, the coolest FS on earth.

If you think about it, too, the most logical way to do metadata
is to blur the distincition between directories and files -
kword and staroffice already do this - why not incorporate
system-wide serialisation, so that an open() on a directory
returns not nothing nor some legacy 14-char table crap, but
a serialised directory stream?

Then files/directories are basically the same thing, and a copy
of an object to dodgy legacy filesystems is metadata-preserving...
