I've got a peculiar problem - I can't enter exponents in KSpread!

If I enter something like
=2^2
all I get is the words 'false' or 'true' showing up in the cell. Other
spreadsheets get the expected result. This is with 1.3.5 from KDE 3.4
in Debian Sid. I also get the same thing when importing spreadsheets
with exponents from other programs (Gnumeric, etc.).

Anyone else seeing this?
