Paths work in order of precendence from left to right. If you have=20
preexisiting KDE installations, these will interfere with your new KDE.=20
Chage the abover to:

PATH=3D"/home/xe/kde3.4/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/=
games"

> KDEDIR=3D"/home/xe/kde3.4"
> KDEDIRS=3D"/home/xe/kde3.4"
> LD_LIBRARY_PATH=3D"/home/xe/kde3.4/lib"

> export PATH

Also export KDEDIRS and LD_LIBRARY_PATH

KDEDIR is redundant if KDEDIRS is used.
