I would make no such assumptions.  Rather I would start by checking the kde
bug tracking database to see if it was ever entered as a bug; if it was then
there's probably some info there on how/if it was resolved.

If you can't find anything then chances are it hasn't been entered as a bug
and, therefore, wouldn't have been identified as something to be resolved.

I'm not sure if the kde folks do any maintenance on previous releases (I'd
be surprised somewhat if they did), so chances are if you report it and it
is truly a bug in the current version it would be fixed.  But I wouldn't
hold your breath waiting for a backport of the patch to 3.2.3.

Well, you could give the new release a try yourself and see if the problem
persists.  The main reason I suggest that you give it a try is that if
there's some sort of environmental or user methodology behind the bug we
might not be able to replicate it.

I haven't, but I don't really use kmail (stuck with a windblows/outlook
desktop for work :-(
