I don't know anything about the anti-virus tools. But for Spamassassin, one of 
two things can be wrong:

1. Spamassassin can't be executed
2. Kmail doesn't recognize your Spamassassin version. 

Try running:

spamassassin -V

If you have compatibility issues, it will report an error. If not, check the 
version it reports.

I'm running  3.0.2, the latest version. I believe Kmail has a problem 
recognizing the older versions. Get the latest.
