Hmm. vailima, I really think you should read a little of the stuff they put on
the site (and this WILL be my last post about Ubuntu on this list):

- 1) Ubuntu is NOT Debian + Gnome, it's based on Debian but you can't just
apt-get upgrade or you'll get to know Murphy's law

- 2) the choice of Gnome-only is theirs. They provide some repositories to
install KDE on the intel version, it does not work on the ppc version.

- 3) There is a "kubuntu" project starting to create a KDE-only version. Just
wait or help

- 4) If you had read what they say you'd have understood that Ubuntu just does
not care about marketing. They target developping countries by offering a
distro that's simple to install, has a good hardware recognition and is - and
will remain - free, in all meanings of the word.

I think what they want to achieve is good. The way they chose may not be.
Anyway, rants on a KDE list can't help. Take it, leave it or take part in
their development.

Now to close this: Ubuntu has no KDE. So it is. SO kde-linux is not the place
to continue discussing the + and - of a non-kde distribution.
