I installed the PPC version on a PowerBook. It worked

The touchpad on the Mac did work - as far as a touchpad "works", I find them 
unusable.

I should take a look, but I'd think Ubuntu uses cups and you should configure 
the printer in cups (localhost:631)

Ubuntu is based on Debian and does not install KDE by default - actually it 
does not install it at all on a PPC
