I do get the correct DNS address. I can see that in KPPP status. I'm not sure about \
the defaultroute. I will look into that.

Are you sure you are looking in the right area for the problem. Make sure kppp 
is set correctly first and that it is set to get the DNS addresses and set 
default route.
