Go here:
http://luna.cs.ccsu.edu/dominik/mplayer/downloads-optional.html
Download this:
mplayer-codecs-essential
Install it and link it:
rpm -Uvh --nodeps <mplayer-codecs-essential>
ln -s /usr/lib/codecs /usr/lib/win32
(Xine expects the codecs to be in /usr/lib/win32)
Now try playing the avi files in Xine.
