Hmmm... well without anymore information I'm shooting in the dark. Which
I hate. Anyone else have any ideas?

Anymore information you can provide?

Let's try and rule out your personal settings altogether. Set up
another, brand new user and try logging into KDE under that new user.

Also, what [x]dm (X display manager) are you using? KDM, GDM or XDM are
the most popular. They may have log files under
/var/log/(gdm/)/(kdm.log ??)/(xdm)/etc depending on how you systems is
configured. If not, check /var/log/messages and search for entries
around the times you tried to log in.

A useful command for this is, e.g.,

tail -f /var/log/messages

which will print out to the screen any information added to the end of
the file. Set this up in a TTY for various related log files and try
logging in again.
