If you have an Nvidia card now you can always try installing the linux nvidia
drivers from nvidia.com. Then you would need to edit your X config file and
change the driver for your video card to read 'nvidia'
I understand these drivers occasionally conflict with X libs on a few RPM
based distros so there may be a better method for your particular setup.
At any rate, you can change the driver to 'vesa' and get your X working again
while you research other options.
If you choose to edit your X config file by hand, you may wish to back it up
elsewhere first :)
