not really ;-)
if you login from another machine you will have to tell kmail where to start 
the GUI - e.g.
'kmail -display <remotecomputername>:0.0'
this implies that the machine from which you login has an x-server running
and allows the machine where kmail is running on opening a display.
things would be easier if you try the whole thing directly at the computer
where your kmail is installed...
