I installed gcc and libs from SuSE Linux 9.0 Prof but
cannot compile any c-source that needs X athena widgets Xaw.

The h-demo.c in
/usr/share/doc/packages/plotutil/libplot
has precise compilation instructions, for instance

gcc h-demo.c -lplot -lXaw -lXmu -lXt -lXext -lX11 -lm

Running this on the command line gives error message
"cannot find -lXaw"
 from the loader
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.1/../../../..
/i586-suse-linux/bin/ld
which is equivalent to /usr/bin/ld

The Xaw libs are installed, for instance
/usr/X11/lib/libXaw.so.7.0

The code ld.so is installed as
/lib/ld-2.3.2.so

Please help.
