I haven't seen that exact problem before but I suggest that you try 
this next:

When you upgrade KDE, it is a good idea to delete all KDE related 
directories in: "/tmp/" or if you have the needed instructions to make 
needed directories in your: "rc.local" script, then you can simply 
delete everything in: "/tmp/" and reboot.

You might also need to delete every file: $HOME/.DCOP* and restart X.
