Subject: [kde-linux] kde3.1 Konqueror crashes when run as root

I upgraded KDE to 3/2 on a SuSE8.1 machine using the SuSE rpms.
When I try to start Konqi either as kdesu or logged in as root, Konqi starts
up but as soon as the icons are loaded it shuts down and gives me a signal 11
(SIGSEGV).
However, I can click on a user folder and File Mgr will come up as non-SU
and stay up.
The Backtrace from the Crash Handler gives me:

ALSO, if I try to use the Print Browser it - File Manager- has the same
response..
I have tried deleting the mcop, and various .kde things in /tmp,
reinstallation of the 83 rpms, individually, all to no avail.
I tried to start it from a console and watch for error messages but it failed
and left no error messages.
Any suggestions?
TIA
Richard
