well what you could do, is skip the traditional startx crap, and create a 
script called /usr/bin/kde
which contains the lines
"
xinit /usr/X11R6/kde2/bin/startkde
rm -rf $HOME/.kde/*tmp*
rm -rf /tmp/kde-$USER
rm -rf /tmp/ksocket-$USER
rm -rf /tmp/mcop-$USER
"

anythign after the xinit line only happens after you leave kde, so mayeb 
thats what you're looking for, i wrote this to clean up after myself, i dont 
like temporary files!

and also, kde is much easier to type than startx, and more intuitive
