100% reproducible in KDE-3.1b2 from SuSE-8.0:

Start a long text with long lines.
Activate Dynamic Word Wrap in the View Menu.
Scroll by mouse wheel until the cursor is off the screen.
Move the (invisible) cursor with the arrow keys up or down.

Immediately kate hangs (completely: no SIGTERM reaction) and takes 100% CPU. The \
index for the lines seems to be off, as  kate spits out the following endlessly: \

-1323336 out of range QGArray::at: Absolute index -1323364 out of range
QGArray::at: Absolute index -1323392 out of range
QGArray::at: Absolute index -1323420 out of range

QGArray::at: Absolute index -1323504 out of range
...

Either the cursor should follow the mouse or the hang has to be fixed.
