Installed from:    compiled sources
Compiler:          gcc version 3.2.1 20020924 (Debian prerelease)
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.4.19-jam0

1) Go to some sort FTP or website that has a link to something Kate is associated with
2) Click on the link
3) Notice that it comes up as a blank document in Kate
4) Click the link again
5) Document is loaded fine

This is -highly- annoying
