Sir/Madam,
I installed Mandrake Linux 8.2 (Bluebird) (Kernel 2.4.18-6mdk,KDE
version 2.2.2) on my system (Vintron elixir home pc

(www.vintron.com) - PIII 1.1 Ghz, 64Mb RAM, 20Gb HDD, 56k PCI
internal fax/data Modem, WinXP Pro OS/Red Hat Linux 7.0) after

formatting Red Hat Linux. (I got the Mandrake CD through Digit
Anniversary Edition IT related magazine which offered 5 CDs

free with the magazine as a part of anniversary celebrations)
Crash:
I was reading hacker_crackdown.txt(685.7kb in size, Plain Text
format, downloaded from the link in

www.insecure.org/reading.html) in full screen mode. when I pressed
F5 the Konqueror crash message appeared - signal 11

SIGSEGV. I rebooted the machine and continued to read. After
around 5 minutes I pressed F5 again the Konqueror crash message

appeared. This time I used the back trace option and copied the
debugging(bug_in_konqueror.txt, third crash -

bug_in_konqueror2.txt).
How to reproduce the Crash step by step:
Open hacker_crackdown.txt in konqueror (in localuser.localdomain
(no root priveleges) mode). Hit Ctrl-Shift-F to get full

screen.(Do this several times) Scroll down to the Afterword
section of the text (then Scroll up and down several times).

Position the following line "1993 was not the vandal child, but
the victimizer of children" near the center of the screen,

with the cursor blinking on the first line and before first letter
of the screen. Then press the following keys in same order

- F12, F11, F10, F9 - twice (the side bar will appear and
disappear), F8, F7, F6, F5 -here the Red button with white x
mark

will get highlighted and dehighlighted, only for me it did not
dehighlight and the konqueror crash message appeared.
Remedy: Close the crash message by pressing close button. You can
continue as if nothing happened. If u do the above thing

immediately Konqueror wont crash. Try it after some time. Or
better reboot the machine. Initially even if u follow the above

steps the konqueror wont crash. The thing as I guessed is to
stimulate the processor (On my system if the processor gets

stimulated the 3 fans provided to cool the system make a really
good noise)by Ctrl-Shift-F, scrolling up and down, etc.
I have included as attachment bug_in_konqueror.txt and
bug_in_konqueror2.txt. I am emailing it using WinXP OS and not

Mandrake (No support for PCI modem/soft modem).
Ciao.
