Compiler:          gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Mandrake Linux 8.0 2.96-0.64mdk)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.4.3-20mdk
OS/Compiler notes: 

On saving files via ftp, Kate gives the error message:
"The file could not be saved. Please check if you have write permission." However, \
the file is then saved normally.

If you would like to use my ftp server to test this, I can set up a temporary \
account.
