Hi Anders,
Meanwhile, I tested the perl-file you sent me with the last mail. I
tested it on two machines, on a laptop and on a desktop. To figure out,
if there are problems related to the different hardware, I did the
following tests (all with the file you sent to me and the original from
KDE CVS 3.0 Branch) and with the helpers.pm, which I sent to you:
1.
KDE 3.0 running on the laptop
2.
KDE 3.0 running on the desktop
3.
KDE 3.0 running on the desktop and tunneld to the laptop via ssh. So the
laptop has to do the presentation and the desktop has only to run the
applications.
In all three tests, I couldn't see any difference. Interesting for you
could be the information, that the load is always generated on the
machine which actually runs kate.
Typing in my helerps.pm a line with 126 characters generated 29
cpu-seconds onto the process of kate :-(.
I'm using X 4.2.0, gcc 2.95.3, qt-copy from kde-cvs and a threaded qt.
glibc has version 2.2.5 and kernel is 2.4.1[87]. I compiled KDE with
enable-profile.
If you want me to do some more tests, feel free to ask! I will try to do
them!
Regards,
Andreas Hartmann
