Try this with clean config files:

Start kate and open a couple of files, open the configure window and tell it to \
"restore view configuration". Apply and exit kate. Now, start Kate and it will crash \
right after the files are buffered, their filenames is rendered in the listbox. Just \
when it's going to render the first file, it will crash.

(I'm not clicking or doing anything, I guess it's trying to render the file highest \
up in the list)
