When the file selector box
a) has the "Open files, selector" tab window displayed, 
and 
b) the tab to display the list of currently edited files is selected, 
then
right mouse clicking on a file in this window will crash kate. 

A possible reason for this is  that there are no menu options for the right mouse \
button to call up on screen.
