Hello all,

Merry christmas everyone!

With the current build of Kafka, we have been able to load pages in and enter
text. Although editing text is not perfect yet, it can give a good idea of
performance.

Tonight I loaded in one big HTML page (the autoconf manual from GNU), and when
I scrolled halfway in the page, and clicked on some text to edit it, there was
a noticeable delay. This signals for us that we have a performance bottleneck
that we need to fix.

It seems to me that at the moment we are processing editing like this:

 - Detect event
 - Update DOM
 - Refresh page

If we are to do this for each character this can ensue speed problems like I am
seeing. We could possibly implement one of the following soloutions:

 - Only update the tree when a space is detected (problems with updating the
view)
 - Treat the view as a seperate element to update from the source and optimise
it.

There are no doubt numorous options available, but I just wanted to discuss the
issue first of all. Any ideas?

	Jono
