I just had an idea,

there should be a filter-layer between the DOM and the actual HTML Rendering. 
So it's possible for a plugin to change the view but not the source. What 
this would be good for you ask? Well, let's say there's some PHP Code in the 
Document. If you render it you'll see a replacement icon for the PHP code. 
Then you activate your PHP Plugin, the DOM is sent to a PHP filter (which is 
the php cgi-binary) and then the final output is actually rendered. This way 
you can handle all embedded skripting languages without using a bloated http 
server.
