This is great - I was thinking about doing something like this in past, but 
never found enough time/motivation to start. I am really happy that you 
started improving Picasa Export plugin.

BTW, you can also look into current Facebook export plugin, where I have 
finished implementation of non-modal mode (done during last sprint): all 
progress bars are integrated in main widget, so that you can have transfer in 
background and continue working on main Digikam/Gwenview application. 
Also, ImageList now support progress indication in the list itself and you 
should consider using it - Facebook plugin already uses it.
I plan to switch SmugMug plugin to this model for next version, so it would be 
great if Picasa also follows similar model.
