Thanks. -- Problem is that the changes came too late for tonight's
message merge and do not show up in the PO files yet. IOW: translators
are going to lose another day for their corrections.

From what I can see in the POT file after running a "rough translation"
in KBabel is that your change introduced something like 30 new strings
which mostly look similar to the stuff in the tipofday file but not
identical. IOW: they can't be copied with the rough translation feature
if tipofday was already translated.

On the whole, I really hope we'll get another pre-release (and some
additional time) as some developers already proposed on kde-devel.

Well, I'm surely not too enthusiastic about this. I must say that of
all KDE packages it was mostly KDevelop which caused this kind of
problem over and over again.

In this case a single check would have done. I think in every project
should be someone who tries a translated version now and then and looks
if everything works. "Tip of the day" not working would be about the
first thing someone would notice in this case.
