I suppose the same reasoning applies to KOffice-1.1-beta1 ?
I'm about to release the code for it... today.

Should I release the translations for it ?
We haven't had a message freeze or anything - that's for later,
so obviously I expect translations to be incomplete.

I think the above applies - except that it's called a first beta, not an alpha....

The only reason I would see for including i18n is that I could
test the "releasing the koffice-i18n stuff separately" procedure ;-)

Still haven't decided between a single koffice-i18n.tar.bz2 and
koffice-<lang>.tar.bz2 ... but I guess the answer here is going to
vote for the latter :)
