Hi Freek, Yuri & other translators,

With regards to the issues you've seen with anongit.kde.org, this was
caused by some out of date DNS glue records.

While an update to them was submitted around 6 hours ago, due to them
having a TTL (expiry lifetime) of 24 hours, full service may not be
restored for a further 18 hours at this stage.

As these records start to expire on your providers DNS servers service
should return to normal. Both Google Public DNS (8.8.8.8) and
Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1) have both picked up the updated entries
already, so switching to these in favour of your providers servers
should restore access should you need it urgently.

In regards to the different IP addresses seen by Freek, this is normal
behaviour of the anongit and anonsvn networks. Where possible they try
to ensure you only contact the mirrors closest to you geographically,
to ensure you get the fastest possible connection (as geographic
distance adds latency and thus reduces speeds).

In the case of the anongit network, it has two mirrors - Mason in
Switzerland (31.216.41.69) and Mygalo in San Francisco, California
(138.197.213.241). You would have seen differing results between your
direct query and the Google Public DNS query due to the different
locations we see the queries as originating from.

In the case of your direct query, our servers would see your European
IP address (and point you to Mason) while the query from Google Public
DNS (who always make their queries to us from the United States) would
result in you getting pointed to Mygalo.

Cheers,
Ben
