Just for the record, this particular bug requires the attention of the
maintainer of that piece of code. It is not in the "goes without question"
category of i18n fixes.

In fact, I see this bug as a "tip of the iceberg" problem, but I'm prone to
overengineering, so I wanted to wait and see what the maintainer will
say/do.
