IMHO current KDE system as in option a) was working fine and issue
with updating trunk with stable translations can be solved by
providing just easy step-by-step guide how to correctly do that. Good
and simple documentation is key to success.

Support for a) if somebody writes best practice guide how to merge
stable and unstable translations when 4.1 is going to be released.
