Gettext 0.17 has just been released, sporting support for the new kde-format
flag, which you have been seeing for some time in the POs due to one of the
Gettext prereleases running on the repository.

You do not need to install Gettext 0.17 as long as you rely on the central
repository for all Gettext operations. As until now, your POs will be
checked on commit, and the commit will fail with an error output if any
error is discovered.

You do need to install 0.17 if:

* you want to use strict catalog checking through msgfmt -c yourself, either
  manual/scripted or possibly through an option in your PO editor,

* you want to modify KDE POs with Gettext tools yourself; for example, it is
  critical to run msgmerge from 0.17, older versions will just strip
  kde-format flags.

(Anyone who has already installed 0.16.2.pre5 should nevertheless switch to
0.17, as it fixes several small issues discovered in the meantime and
relevant to KDE4 POs.)
