Hi,

while translating libkdeedu.po I found a bug related to i18n handling.
Please look at the following code (taken from
kdeedu/libkdeedu/extdate/extdatetime.cpp) especially on the "May" item - it
is the same string in short and also in long name arrays

QString ExtDate::m_shortMonthNames[12] = { i18n("Jan"), i18n("Feb"),
i18n("Mar"), i18n("Apr"), i18n("May"), i18n("Jun"), i18n("Jul"), i18n("Aug"),
i18n("Sep"), i18n("Oct"), i18n("Nov"), i18n("Dec") };

QString ExtDate::m_longMonthNames[12] = { i18n("January"), i18n("February"),
i18n("March"), i18n("April"), i18n("May"), i18n("June"), i18n("July"),
i18n("August"), i18n("September"), i18n("October"), i18n("November"),
i18n("December") };

this code leads to the following pot file
#: extdate/extdatetime.cpp:49 extdate/extdatetime.cpp:56
msgid "May"
msgstr ""

Now the "May" strings are merged into one entry but the meaning is different
for each case - one meaning is abbreviation and second is full name of the
month. So it is not possible to translate this entry into languages in which
the abbreviation and full name are not the same string.

I don't know if it is a pot file generation bug or the code must be somehow
changed to reflect also the context of the string.

Richard
