Is it an application name? If yes, don't translate it.
Is it a trademark? If yes, don't translate it.

Is it anything else? Translate it if you want to.

You upset my only with recalcitrance and refusing to see that this is a 
feature that you can leverage to save you a lot of time. 

If you truly cannot distinguish application names and trademarks from anything 
else, then shove "grep -Hi $@ /your/path/to/entities/general.entities" in a  
file and chmod +x it, run that with a string, and if you get a hit, don't 
translate it.
