I have noticed that in some applications there are strings to translate 
in form of "Alt-K" or similar, which apparently are accelerator keys.

In English menu entries accelerator keys might be the same for two 
different menu entries (in different menus) and their text will be 
merged into one msgid. If translation for these two menu entries is 
different (with different accelerator keys), then one of these 
translations will be wrong.

Example:
"&Down" -> "W &dół" "Alt-D"
"Spee&d" -> "&Szybkość" "Alt-D" WRONG

IMHO such description of menu entries accelerators should be automated 
somehow to prevent such cases.
