kde-i18n/concat_po_files does this much better.

No, no, no, please don't do that.

Just fix the messages target, delete the old .pot files from the template dir, and 
then tell me which .pot files have been merged and I'll run concat_po_files on all
of kde-i18n (HEAD) to concat the .po files together.
