Gosh, and an awful lot of folks have never even heard of it. Google tells me 
it is spoken in the Gambia, among others. One sentence it turns up is:

	Since UNESCO fixed a Roman alphabet for the Pulaar language

is that correct? Doing things in roman can be much simpler, since you don't 
_also_ need to do things like define keyboard mappings, create fonts, etc.

The rosetta project, 
http://www.rosettaproject.org/live/search/detailedlanguagerecord?ethnocode=FUC , 
doesn't show much in the way of orthography for the language. Do you have 
screenies or something showing the fonts? (Not directly relevant: I'm just 
curious).

If you look at the archives of this list, at 
http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-i18n-doc&r=1&w=2 , you will see several similar 
requests recently: for nasa 
(http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-i18n-doc&m=108344494132598&w=2) and for telugu (
http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-i18n-doc&m=108296544222804&w=2) and the answers 
are always similar: read the howto on i18n.kde.org, get kbabel, and get 
started.

Let's concentrate on translating kde. Suppose you have a working installation 
of kde; get part of kde-i18n, something like this:

	cvs co kde-common
	cvs co -l kde-i18n
	cd kde-i18n
	ln -s ../kde-common/admin
	> subdirs
	echo "fuc" > inst-apps
	mkdir fuc

Now the trick is to get actual content into the fuc/ subdirectory with the 
right structure. You might want to check out another language (say, fr/) and 
copy the structure to fuc/ -- or even copy the entire directory over for 
initial testing purposes. Then

	# cd into the top-level directory of kde-i18n you made, above
	make -f Makefile.cvs
	./configure --prefix=$KDEDIR
	make && make install

After that, you can start translating parts of the documents. For instance, 
you can translate all the strings in fuc/messages/kdebase/ksplash.po, make 
and make install again, and the from a konsole run

	KDE_LANG=fuc ksplash

to see the changes you have made.
