As KDEPIM gears up for its 3.3 release, it's becoming time to look at the
translations for it, too (at least the nl team thinks so, and wants PIM 3.3
to come out with a 100% TL). As an experiment, I (as developer) would like to
update the translations for one app in HEAD, but I'm wondering about how to
go about it exactly.

It looks like kde-i18n/templates/kdepim contains up-to-date .pot files.

Is "msgmerge kpilot.po ../../../templates/kdepim/kpilot.pot" the right way to
go about this? Then edit the resulting file and commit to HEAD?
