Fixing untranslatable strings has nothing to do with message 
freeze. The strings are there already and the sooner you give 
the translators a chance to keep them from appearing in English 
the better.

Changing already translatable strings for whatever reasons would 
be another story and breaks the message freeze. On something 
like this translators usually agree only if the string contains 
a serious misinformation or is inevitable for an important bug 
fix.
