Please read the original discussions on core-devel, doc-english, and i18n-doc 
-- the main thing is over and finished: we _are_ going with "folder". Only 
remaining question whether it makes sense to stick with "directory" in cases 
referring directly to the command line and the underlying OS. For this, the 
majority seemed to think that it does make sense.
